The construction of the partition wall
The details depend on the specific solution. An interesting solution is a light partition wall made of PIR boards. It is characterized by good durability and low weight. Depending on the model, it consists of the aforementioned PIR board, i.e. hardened polyisocyanurate, which is an excellent insulating material, and additional OSB boards. Therefore, among the elements of partition walls, the following should be mentioned:
-
Aluminium or wooden frame.
-
insulation board,
-
finishing layer.
What should characterize a partition wall?
Due to its intended use, the partition wall should be durable and resistant to mechanical damages. It should be fireproof. Otherwise, it will not fulfill its task as a barrier against fire penetration in rooms. Depending on the class, the wall will not deform under the influence of high temperature and will not crack. Although there are no fire requirements for single-family houses, it is extremely important for the safety of the household members.
Additionally, it is worthwhile for partition walls to be sound-insulating. This issue became particularly important in the face of the pandemic and the widespread use of remote work. We should also remember that partition walls are not only barriers within one apartment; isolating sounds will be especially important when they separate two different apartments. Finally, let’s mention the thermal insulation. Again, this will be of importance especially in single-family houses, where it is often the case that not all rooms are heated (e.g. utility rooms).
